Catalin Store recently cosmetically restored and repaired this butterscotch Arvin 532 Catalin radio for a customer. The overall condition was distressed with multiple defects that requiried restoration and repair. However, it is listed on ETSY with no disclosure of the defects in the cabinet.
The restoration and repair involved:
1.) Repair of 5"+ open crack with contouring.
2.) "Cutting" the entire cabinet down to the alabaster base Catalin material.
3.) Preparing the entire cabinet interior and exterior for Airbrush painting to colorize and conceal front and bottom crack and mutiple tube burns.
4.) Airbrush paint entire cabinet with color coats and gloss varish finish.

We just found this radio listed (SOLD) on Esty # VRS0647. The radio sold for $2,050, far more than it is worth.

You will see the seller decided to omit any reference to the critical condition issues in the radio description. Defects such as crack repairs and the finished has been color sprayed and sealed with clear top coat.
It is clear the buyer thought he was buying a top quality Catalin radio based on the descripton that did not contain important condition facts.
