This “Bluebird” radio is among the ultra-rare and highly sought-after radios of the 1930's. It is a Canadian Sparton 154B Cobalt Blue mirror radio that was manufactured in 1936. This is the same year the US produced a Bluebird model 566.
The Internet resource information for this radio is limited. But one common theme when reading this information is the reported few surviving examples of this model. Even a number of major museums do not have this model in their Walter D. Teague’s Section.
The similarities between this Canadian made 154B and the US made 566 have the same frontal display characteristics. It is only when you turn this radio from side to side or viewing the radio back is the distinction clear. The 154B has a larger chassis and larger chassis box with styling features.
The Sparton Canadian 154B “Bluebird” we are selling in this listing as been professionally restored cosmetically.
The extra clean chassis is sold as "Not Working" with the power cord cut. If you intend to listen to this radio, you are strongly advised to seek the services on a vintage electronics expert.
