Rarity and Desirability-

This console is one of only 11 known to exist. The source of this information is a consensus of opinion of those radio collectors on the Internet. It is also very desirable because of its unique cabinet ART DECO styling, rarity and modest footprint.

 

Cabinet Design-

The cylindrical cabinet design with its original wooden round back panel is in a class by itself.  It is Art Deco personified. The demand and value of most tube console radios have diminished greatly, but not the Motorola 9R. for the reasons mentioned above.

 

Cabinet External Dimensions-

The cabinet exterior measurements are-  41.5”  Tall and 18.5" in diameter.

 

Cabinet/Trim Condition and Originality-

·       The cabinet finish is original, however, years ago, a prior owner applied coats of varnish that has darkened over the years. This top coat has since failed leaving checking and crazing in the veneer.

·       There is a 2"X3" hole and damaged veneer on the right-hand side

·       Veneer on the top has been replaced.

·       Missing veneer at the top of the wood back panel.

·       All of the tuning knobs are original.

·       Some of the knobs missing veneer top.

·       The grille cloth is not original.

 

Condition of Electronics-

·       The unmolested chassis is sold as "Not working".

·       The speaker cone is intact with no blemishes, sold as “untested”

·       The record player is not original and is sold as “Not working”
