For sale is this unique and Art Deco styled Publix skyscraper clock/tube radio from the early 1930s. This is a private label clock/tube radio similar in design to the Philco 70 and Gloritone of the same year (Escutcheons are different).
The exterior measurements of this clock/tube radio are 60” x 16” x 11.25”. It is considered a Grandmother because it is generally agreed that a Grandfather clock measures at least 6 feet 3 inches in height. A grandmother clock is shorter than a grandfather clock, so it generally measures less than 6 feet 3 inches in height.
The cabinet of this clock/radio has its original finish. The finish is in very nice condition with only a ding on the front left bottom. As the pictures show, the original wood back panel is present which is very unusual.
The chassis has been cleaned and ready for restoration. The prior owner states both the clock and chassis work, but we cut the cord because it was badly frayed. The dial has some white paint on it. Dial reproductions are readily available. The clock and tube radio are sold as not working. We strongly advise you to bring this to a tube radio electronics specialist if you intend to bring it to life.
